The (1972-1975) Masterman Alumni Association is eager and excited to launch a scholarship endowment called The Peggy A. Cuff Scholarship Fund demonstrating our commitment and support to J.R. Masterman students who are graduating and have achieved excellence in academics, sports, school spirit and community involvement with the same spirit that Peggy possessed.
The vision to establish a scholarship honoring Peggy Cuff began in 1994 when a reunion was held in her honor at the Mayor’s Reception Room in Philadelphia’s City Hall. There were approximately 100 attendees. Since that time, many maintained the hope of keeping the vision of a scholarship fund alive. Those who knew Peggy would agree that she was an intelligent, witty, caring, and well-loved young lady who captured the hearts of many during our time at Masterman School (1968-1974). It was unfortunate that Peggy passed away in the prime of her life. In June 2011, Masterman students united to form the Masterman Alumni Association (1972-1975) thereby establishing The Peggy A. Cuff Scholarship Fund for senior graduates of Masterman High School as well as, hosting yearly events, class reunions, and pursuing other endeavors that may benefit students of Masterman School and the community. Our first fundraiser (A Silent Auction) took place Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Bleu Martini Restaurant in Philadelphia. The event served to reunite former classmates and to generate awareness of our efforts to present a scholarship and to host a reunion. This was a joyous event for all who attended. Our next scheduled event, June 30, 2012 includes awarding the recipient of this year’s Scholarship and a class Reunion. |
